Photographer

Often shooting with poor lighting or in inhospitable conditions with his employers' aging equipment, Ryan has had to rely on his eye for composition and sense of timing to create compelling photographic art. Whether using some of the first DSLR cameras on the market, an iPhone, a point-and-shoot digital camera, or a top Canon lens on an outdated camera body, he captures images full of depth, heart and humanity.

Sports

From board-rattling hip checks to game-winning shots to quiet moments of reflection, sports are full of visual stories to tell. One image -- a pitcher walking off the mound after surrendering a game-winning hit -- can tell the story of an entire game, an entire season, an entire career.

Marketing

The most important ingredients in branding, brand activations, and marketing photography are authenticity and humanity. Whether the subject is a product or a community, it has a story to tell. That's why Ryan looks for the humanity and truth in his marketing photo subjects.

Atmospheric

Ryan values stillness as much as he does action in his compositions. Quiet and still landscapes or iconic pieces of scenery (like Disneyland's Columbia sailing ship or Dodger Stadium's San Gabriel Mountains backdrop) can evoke as much awe and emotion as a crush of celebrating offensive linemen.
